By Dolly Craft, CIBA Foundation President

The CIBA Foundation’s 2018 Fundraising Campaign is now underway.  We are hoping to raise $15,000 this year so that we can continue to provide funding for safe cycling projects.  Since our inception in 1997, we have contributed over $450,000 toward some 300 plus projects.

While we continue to receive support from the Hilly Hundred and NITE rides, our grant requests continue to grow.  Your donation will allow us to continue to fund viable requests that target bicycle safety.

Just this year, we have funded helmets distributed free to over 750 youth in central Indiana, provided bicycle lights to middle school students in the Fort Wayne area, helped to expand a bicycle trail near Richmond, supported a high school bicycle physical education effort and a trishaw for senior citizens, among many others.  Check out details at our newly enhanced website www.cibafoundation.org.

While at our website, feel free to go to the Donate page to make a secure donation via Pay Pal. For mail-in donations, see the form in our Fundraising Brochure.

We need your support.  I hope that you will place safe bicycling and the CIBA Foundation at the top of your list of contributions for this year.  Thank you!

We provide support to trails across Indiana, such as the Covered Bridge Gateway Trail in Parke County.

In just over 2 months, October 5-7, 2018, bicyclists from across the Midwest will make their way to Ellettsville, Indiana for the 51st edition of CIBA’s fall cycling classic, The Hilly Hundred Weekend (HHW). Volunteer directors for the Hilly have been working since last October to prepare for the 2,500 riders expected this year.

Registration is now open at www.hillyhundred.org, and if you register by August 28th you will receive a free HHW T-Shirt.  And if you can’t make the weekend, a Sunday only registration is also available.

New for 2018 will be a finishing village experience in front of the Edgewood High School for Saturday riders.  This will feature Live music, food trucks, ice cream bars (of course!) and the deals of the Hilly Hundred Vendor tent.  And we may even have a few more surprises!

Routes are still being finalized, and will again include 30(+) and 50(+) mile options.  The 2017 Sunday route was very popular last year, and will be utilized again this.

The Hilly would not be possible without our over 250 volunteers, and online volunteer registration is already available through www.hillyhundred.org.  All volunteers receive a Hilly Helper T-shirt, and many roles also allow you to ride.  Be sure to register today!

Look for breaking HHW news at hillyhundred.org and at cibaride.org.

The CIBA Foundation awarded a grant to IU Emergency Medicine Advocacy Group to provide free helmets at the Children’s Museum, scheduled to August 2, 2018, from 3 PM to 9 PM

We are looking for CIBA volunteers to help with helmet-fitting at this event.  Some volunteers measure the head size of the children, then additional volunteers fit the appropriate size to each individual child and talk to the child and family about bicycle safety.

Shifts are 3-6 pm and 6-9 pm.  We need up to 10 volunteers for each shift.

Volunteers should also provide T-shirt size.   Waivers are also required which will be emailed to you when you sign up.  Free parking at the Children’s Museum.  Check in at the Security Desk.

Thank you for helping to encourage safe cycling.

You must volunteer prior to event. Questions? Contact Dolly Craft at dollybike@aol.com.
